Anonymous: I never understood why ppl adopt from no kill shelters. the animals there will not be killed…. but animals at city pounds WILL be killed.. shouldn't we be trying to save them?

catp0rn:

I totally understand where you’re coming from.

When I said try and adopt from a no kill shelter, I meant adopt cats from them as opposed to buying a cat from a breeder. There are too many homeless cats as it is, no thanks to breeders.

As for kill shelters… I really, really hate the idea of them. Adopting from them directly shows them support, so I’m opposed to that. However, you can adopt from a no kill shelter that pulls cats from kill shelters. For example, there is a kill shelter in my city that has a facebook page and they post the danger list daily (which is the list of all the cats that are on death row), and over half of the time the cats are pulled by rescue groups that run no kill shelters. That way, you’re saving the life of a cat while adopting from and supporting a no kill shelter. Win/win.

sugarbunnyboocakes: You should submit your post about the kittens that need fosters to mostlycatsmostly. Good luck.

Thankfully all the kittens managed to find foster homes (and many of them got adopted at our Petsmart event this past weekend) but I will most definitely keep it in mind! We’re completely full so every time we get a new cat we’re always looking for foster homes so this will hopefully help with that.

Thank you very much!

Support Cats Are Us through iGive!

Cats Are Us is getting a check for $42.26 from our supporters who changed their shopping for good at iGive. You can help at http://www.iGive.com/CatsAreUs/?p=20121&jltest=1. We’ll also get $5 for each new supporter in July. Plus, iGive is giving away another special $2,000 in July to the top three people who get the most friends to join and use the iGive Button. Your friends can support your cause, or their own favorite group. There will be one $1,000 winner, and two $500 winners. All you need to do is try the iGive Button through October 15, 2014. No purchase necessary! So, help us spread the word by sharing this post and by joining iGive!

But what is iGive? iGive is a simple, free web app used for online shoppers. It just sits as a tiny icon on your browser and any time you go through online shopping, portions of it go to the establishment you are aiding. This is only through selected stores but it’s a large list! So any little thing you buy online through any of these stores will take a bit out of what you paid to automatically donate. Pretty great way, huh? (You can only have 1 iGive cause at a time, so if you got one place in mind to assist that has an account it’s excellent, not so much for the people who’d probably enjoy supporting multiple causes at once, but you can change at any time). (Of course this doesn’t apply to the above special ;D)

So check it out, and as always thank you all for the support!

I am hoping this can be boosted, as we getting getting too close to desperate.
My mother has to very reluctantly rehome her cats in preparation for her moving into senior housing. We have found a home for one of them, but these two are proving weirdly difficult to place.
Their names are Ben and Jerry. They are about five years old, healthy and up to date with their shots. They are long-haired tabbies of indeterminate breed, although Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest Cat seems likely. They are lovey and sweet, love giving head butts, but not lap cats. They love nothing better than a good scritch, a sunny window, and a cardboard scratcher to kill and/or sleep on. They are pretty low key, and low maintenance except for long-haired cat grooming. I would love for them to go to a good home together, as they have never really been apart. They are currently located in north central Massachusetts. I can be contacted at randomsealife@gmail.com. Please post this wherever you feel it will be seen. Thank you.

The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily so they can meet their quota of getting FREE FOOD donated every day to abused and neglected animals in their shelters.
It takes less than a minute (only about 15 seconds actually) to go to their site and click on the purple box titled, ‘Click Here to Give - it’s FREE!’. Every click gives about .6 bowls of food to sheltered dogs. You can also click daily!
Keep in mind that this does not cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. [via.]
Go to the website HERE.

It’s just a click… takes about 1 or 2 seconds.

there’s no pop-up ads or anything on the site
just click it once and you’re done

if all of my followers click, it’s more than a few thousand meals so.. please?
